CRL 2P: (Afternoon arrival)

 

 

DAY 1: SAIGON – VUNG LIEM – TRUNG NGHIA                                                        (D)

Breakfast at hotel, The Mekong Delta, popularly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, is famous for its vast rice fields, innumerous waterways and beautiful landscape. This morning start your tour to the heart of the Mekong Delta with the transfer to Trung Nghia, Vung Liem (approx. 180 km) by your own transportation/guide.

 

After you have done your trip at Caibe – Vinh Long or Ben Tre, you continue to drive to Trung Nghia village.

Upon arrival, you meet a local leads to the lodge through the countryside road. Select the bicycle and start cycling tour around a peaceful village. After one and a half hour riding you get back and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the vast rice paddy field. Walking along the village path for a few minutes you will reach to the Lodge. Check in and rest for a while before participating at a cooking class and dinner is served.

10 minutes after dinner you and locals walk to the neighbor with coconut leave torches in hand. Meeting and chatting with farmer and veteran about the area. Poon is introduced and its sticks burned while traditional music performance with special instruments played.

End of amazing day is about 21:30PM.

DAY 2: TRUNG NGHIA – VUNG LIEM                                                             (B)

Breakfast at the Lodge.

You start taking a rowing boat through canal and visit pop rice factory. Here you know how local makes living by raising pigs, cows and use their waste to generate green energy to create biogas for free cooking. It is the home of Mr. Cong (Duc as a nick name). He shows you the traditional way to make pop rice or corn while his wife completes the product of which we bring them to school for kids later.

Take a sampan ride to visit school and walk to Chua Xu temple in where locals and visitors from other provinces come to pray. Paddle back to the lodge, feed the fish at ponds. Then, help to cut water coconut leaves, which are used to build the walls and roof of the houses. You watch, learn and practice to complete the product. If time permitted, you can see the blind man show you how he makes coconut fabric and poon sticks that burnt at the previous night.

Check out and say good-bye to the family, drive to your next destination.

Overnight at Lodge

 

DAY 2:

07:30: Breakfast

08:30: Rowing boat to visit pop rice factory

09:30: Paddle to visit school and Chua Xu temple

11:30: Rowing boat back to the Lodge. Check out

11:45: Cut and weave water coconut leaves. Make coconut fabric and poon sticks made

12:00: Say goodbye to family and leave for next destination. End of services
